Intimate Rose Garden Wedding

Christine Stefanik (Bride) CHARLOTTE, NC
We planned our May wedding at a beautiful little urban rose garden. It’s a hidden gem just outside of Uptown Charlotte. We had about 75 of our closest friends and family (most of whom traveled all the way from our hometowns in Michigan and Rhode Island) for a completely al fresco ceremony and reception. The weather was our biggest concern; but the rain and humidity held off, the mostly cloudy sky kept us cool, and I couldn't have asked for anything better! Without any real floral training, almost everyone thought I was crazy for undertaking all of the flowers for our wedding, but FiftyFlowers gave me the confidence to move forward with my vision. I wanted my wedding flowers to feel like you ... just picked up a beautiful handful of blooms from a meadow; lush and textural with a range of shapes and colors. I probably redesigned my shopping cart ten times before narrowing down my final picks. Honestly, prepping the flowers was one of the things that kept me calm and relaxed in all the chaos leading up to the wedding. When the flowers arrived Wednesday and Thursday mornings, I got to open the wonderfully fragrant boxes in peace for a few hours, removing leaves or thorns, and tucking each stem into the awaiting buckets. Thursday night after wine and crafts with the moms and girls, my future mother-in-law and two future sisters-in-law came back to the house to help me prepare the centerpieces. They were in charge of loading up each vase with tons of greens and I would fill in with the blooms. It saved me hours and I was so grateful to continue our bonding time. Come Friday, I whipped together a small practice bouquet to use for the rehearsal and to let the girls use as an example to create their own unique bouquets. Each bridesmaid got to choose which flowers and colors they liked the most, as I was putting together the boutonnieres for the guys. In addition to the bridesmaids’ bouquets, my mother had requested a small posy (bouquet) instead of a wrist or pinned corsage. So, we chose about 4-5 flowers with a few stems of greenery for each mom. With still so many flowers left, my maid of honor was tasked with filling a bunch of smaller vases that were scattered all around the venue. All in all, we were able to make 1 bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 2 mothers’ posies, 7 boutonnieres, 10 table centerpieces, 6 square bar/buffet arrangements, 10 small accent arrangements, and 3 large vases for our neighbors that were watching for our mail and packages. With so many out-of-town guests, we ended up having people give arrangements to their Uber drivers, hotel concierges, etc. I am so happy at the idea that our wedding flowers continued to spread love and beauty throughout our city that weekend! I can’t wait for my next chance to use FiftyFlowers again. Show more

Wow, these were amazing! It’s a fun surprise to see exactly what colors you’ll end up with. I ordered 25 white, 25 light pink, 75 peach, 50 light to medium orange, and 25 orange. They opened up really big and the different colors worked so well together; I loved the contrast of the warm orange against the greens. I probably over-ordered as we had enough to make 10+ extra vases than expected; 200 roses go a long way!

These definitely changed my mind on carnations as a wedding/event flower; the color was great and they literally lasted for a month. They worked great in our bouquets and arrangements, adding a different size and texture from the roses.

El Aleli Peach Flower ( 5 Bunches or 50 Stems )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Corsages, Other

Docking .5 star only because we were sent white stock instead of peach. We had already started to put the arrangements together by the time I realized they weren't what I ordered. Fiftyflowers was very quick to respond to my email with a refund for the incorrect shipment. The white still ended up looking beautiful and held up well in all of our bouquets and centerpieces.

Garden Rose Creamy White Blush ( 60 Garden Roses )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Corsages, Other

These roses start with a beautiful blush pink center that fades as they open up with that beautiful garden rose swirl of petals. They smell amazing and I would recommend 100% to any brides or white rose lovers.

Make Me Blush Garden Rose ( 36 Garden Roses )

Used for: Centerpieces , Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid's Bouquets , Corsages, Other

All. Time. Favorite. I bought a trial of these roses in the Whimsical Garden Rose Sample Pack (along with the Creamy White Blush Garden Roses) before selecting them for our wedding roses. They are by far the most fragrant roses, like a beautiful perfume! I love that the edges are a darker pink to outline the gentle curves of each petal. These went front and center in my bouquet!

Customer service called me the week before the wedding to let me know that two of the varieties I ordered weren’t growing as well as the farmers would’ve liked. And honestly, I think it was a blessing in disguise, as I loved the final product with the new varieties. I used Silver Dollar, Fresh Willow, Willow Seeded, and Baby. They really made my lush, green vision a reality! We used almost every stem, with maybe 5 Baby Eucalyptus left over.

Such a game changer! I’m so happy I ordered these funky little flowers. They added an amazing light, fluffy texture to our arrangements, and I was able to use the pieces that were stripped off during cleaning/prep to add to the boutonnieres.

I am so glad that I kept these in my order. I didn’t find that they were too flimsy to work with, but I wasn’t generally really rough with the flowers. The stems are significantly shorter than the other flowers, maybe 8-12 inches tall, so you’ll need a shorter container to hold them in while prepping arrangements. They made for perfect boutonnieres as-is, but if you find any that are too droopy for your liking, using thin-gauge wire would keep them standing tall. I loved the gently curving stems in our arrangements, and the ombre colors brought together all the different shades of flowers.

These were my big POP of color in the arrangements. Super easy to prep, though I wish I didn’t baby them as much, so they could’ve opened even larger. One of my bridesmaids had the great idea to gently blow hot air on hers before we started taking pictures, and it worked!
