Dreamy Wedding At Heavenly Lodge

Marie Ramos (Florist) South Lake Tahoe, CA
I as main florist and owner of Katrione's Blooms and Crafts had the opportunity and privilege to be invited to create floral art at Krista and Rakesh's wedding in Heavenly Mountain Ski Lodge, overlooking the sparkling azure South Lake Tahoe, California. I collaborated closely with the bride's mom, Phoebe, to adorn the ceremonial arch and the dining hall, plus fashion the bride's and bridesmaids' bouquets, the groom's and groomsmens' boutonnieres, corsage wristlets for the ladies and still more boutonnieres for the other gentlemen in the party. The clear blue sky over the calm lake was the perfect inspiration for choosing and blending the florals. My goal was to symbolize that dreamy wedding ... through intuitive flower choices, and I knew the lavender blue hydrangeas and purple-to-white monochromatic pack from FiftyFlowers would best achieve that goal. Phoebe was a wonderfully trusting client and left the floral art to my best judgment, as I kept communicating with her through the planning stage. When the wedding day came, my team headed out to the venue (2-hour drive), took a tram up the lodge, built out the arch, set the centerpieces and gladly handed the flower designs for the entourage to Phoebe and Krista, who were both beaming with happiness. As we had just finished the centerpieces, guests began alighting from the tram and coming into the venue. The first comments they made included how "beautiful the reception tables vivid were the flowers...the place looked lovely," and they profusely praised the host. Part of the secret was the FiftyFlowers-supplied lavender blue hydrangeas and monochromatic flower fillers on the centerpieces, and the white flowing spray dressing up the sweetheart table made partially from flowers in the combo pack. Some guest watched as we wrapped the ceremonial arch that had been constructed on top of the hill, in more flowers, flowing with the colors of purple, lavender, lilac, white and blush. I took a deep breath as my team and I made a final sweep of all we had done, at a place fittingly called Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe, on the hill amidst the blue sky, a place where wedding dreams are lived and loved forever. As a creative California florist, we successfully chose the lavender blue Colombian hydrangea flower for its essential dreamy color to match the purple, lilac and navy blue theme for Krista's wedding. I fashioned these into centerpieces, combined with the monochromatic purple pack. The vase was wrapped in lavender satin, to round out the design. The effect was stunning as guests gushed over the perfectly set purple linen napkins over classy dinnerware, in table rounds that captured the perfect setting of a dreamy heavenly wedding in South Lake Tahoe. The focal hydrageas held up well even after the long trip from Sacramento up the tram and into the mountain lodge venue. I am amazed at how naturally bright, fresh, and resilient this flower is! Thanks FiftyFlowers.

I incorporated the purple limonium, asters, alstromerias, into the hydrangea centerpieces. They made stunning fillers and created a perfectly blended look to match the flow of purples, lavenders, lilac and soft blue hues. I set a sweetheart table centerpiece with the queen anne's lace, to pair with the gerberas, white scabiosas, and lily. Then, I incorporated the limonium into the bouquets, rose corsages and boutonnieres for a dainty look. Surprisingly, the sturdy feathery structure of the purple limonium with its white florets gave the groom's and gentlemen's boutonnieres a masculine touch. I finished up the 7-foot ceremony arch with more purple pack flowers in a swathe of monochromatic colors. Perfect flowers for a dreamy heavenly California wedding overlooking South Lake Tahoe. Thank you FiftyFlowers for the professionally chosen monochromatic pack!
